This one song is worth the purchase. But putting just the two of them together, their music and harmonies are even more magical. If you love traditional bluegrass music, you will love this album. These guys have great resumes having worked with the bands of Doyle Lawson, Ricky Skaggs, and Rhonda Vincent in the past. I am grateful that they included several gospel songs and "By The Mark" is my absolute favorite on this album.
We love to listen to Dailey and Vincent. They have such good harmony and play it gooood.
All the songs on this project is worth 10 stars. I can't get enough of these guys. What talent-what a CD. I like their version of the The Statler Brothers classic, "Name On The Wall." the Cd CD begins with a rip-roaring, fast bluegrass song, "Sweet Carrie." I believe the future has just begun for these guys.
This is only half of the dozen songs found on this CD and the other 6 hold the same water these 6 do. Dailey and Vincent are already among the legends with this debut album alone. During the last 20 years that I have regulerly attended Bluegrass Festivals and followed this most wonderful of all music styles, I have been asked who is the current best band. The Stanley brothers, Bill Monroe, Reno & Smiley, and so on. Now when I am asked, I find myself saying "Dailey & Vincent". The album has a nice mix of wonderfully upbeat, smooth flowing songs such as "Cumberland River" and "Sweet Carrie" to slow ballads of life with "More Than A Name On The Wall" and "River Of Time" to beautiful sung songs to Our Lord and Savior in the tunes "By The Mark" and "Place On Calary".
My answer has always been the same; If you want gospel bluegrass, it is Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, and if you want good driving bluegrass with a good portion of gospel, it is Ricky Skaggs. As a younger(though now hitting my late 30's) fan of tradtional bluegrass, times have grwn further and further between finding a band that plays the music I grew up on. Luckily, we have acts that keep this tradtional style of this music still alive. If you want to find a CD that good, traditioanl style Bluegrass, you just fond it.
I bought the CD for "By The Mark' and discovered that there is not a bad track on the CD. Awesome vocal harmonies, very talented musicians and very funny too. I would recommend this to anyone. I first saw Dailey And Vincent while vacationing in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry House. They were by far the highlight of the show for me, as someone not normally a fan of country music, they simply blew me away. Songs range from gospel to country to bluegrass.
